6th Annual Saul Cohen - Schoke JFS Lecture
The Family Today: Secrets to Strong Relationships and Greater Happiness at Any Age
 

Thursday, November 9th at 7:30 pm at the Ferguson Library in StamfordFree and open to the community. A gift to the community from Mimi and Saul Cohen. Featuring Bruce Feiler, author of six consecutive New York Times bestsellers, including The Secrets of Happy Families and his newest book, The First Love Story: Adam, Eve and Us. Schoke JFS College Ahead!

Tuesday, December 5th, 7:30 PM

A panel of deans of admission will share information about the college admission process, academics, Jewish life on campus, residential options and other topics of interest. Claire Friedlander, Schoke JFS College Consultant, will moderate the discussion. The panel includes: Lorna J. Hunter, VP for Enrollment Management, Washington College, Chestertown, MD; Nathan Fuerst, Assistant VP of Enrollment and Director of Admissions, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT; and Ryan Hargraves, Director of Admission, University of Vermont, Burlington, VT.

Open to the community at no cost and registration is not required.

Schoke JFS Race to College

Mondays, January 22, Februay 12 and March 5
Ferguson Library Harry Bennett Branch

Sessions will cover recent changes in application process, standardized test scores, choosing the best essay question to answer, planning college visits and the importance of community service. All are welcome to attend at no cost.

2018 Annual Friends Campaign

When friends and family in our community need help...
they turn to Schoke JFS... and now... we are turning to you.

Here are some of the ways Schoke JFS has helped over 5,000 people in OUR community this year:

  • 65 families in crisis received emergency financial assistance
  • 28,000 meals distributed through the Kosher Food Pantry
  • 53 children were able to attend a Jewish summer camp
  • 16 families were prevented from homelessness
  • 480 clients received assistance with finding a job
  • 1,400 counseling sessions provided
  • 200 homebound seniors were cared for by a trained aide


Together, we can help make a difference in the lives of people who reach out to Schoke JFS

Have a Shredding Good Time at Schoke JFS!

Take the opportunity to securely dispose of credit cards, passports, bills, invoices, checks, statements or other personal papers.  Bring your “shreddables” along with a donation of kosher non-perishable foods or toiletries or grocery gift cards for the Schoke JFS Food Pantry.

Have an extra coat in your closet?

Schoke Jewish Family Service Kosher Food Pantry is collecting new or gently used winter gear for our food pantry clients.  Coats, hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for adults and children or a donation of retail gift cards (e.g. Old Navy, Target) is appreciated.

Donations can be dropped off Monday - Friday, 9 am – 4 pm

Add Tzedakah to every occasion with Schoke JFS Mitzvah Baskets!

When you order a beautifully designed Mitzvah basket for your simcha, the proceeds go directly to the Schoke JFS Kosher Food Pantry which provides food to thousands of individuals and families in our community.

Mitzvah baskets and centerpieces are uniquely designed and custom ribbon colors can be selected to fit the décor of your event. The decorative baskets are filled with “faux food” symbolic of the food that is donated.

Whether it is helping a client move from one home to another or assisting with the fresh produce days, Ron is a reliable and steady volunteer for Schoke JFS. We can’t thank him enough for his service to the greater Stamford community.

Sharon Franklin, Director of Community Campaign for the United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan and Darien, stopped by at the Schoke JFS Food Drive to donate some non-perishable items to help those in area who need it most.

Steve Garcia, Associate Warehouse Manager of the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, Inc., hands a student volunteer from Temple Sinai’s Fifth Grade Hebrew School class a donation for the Schoke JFS Kosher Food Pantry Food Drive outside of Stop & Shop in Stamford.
